The goal of this page: provide a framework for the delegation of social network accounts to better engage with regional audiences and support community involvement.

How can I publish on social networks as an Open Food Facts local community?

To share content and animate a local community around the project Open Food Facts, you will need to become an ambassador. The ambassador may delegate the mission to a member of their local community. In this case, the person in charge must also sign the ambassador's charter.

To sum up, this means signing the Open Food Facts' representative charter and having regular online meet-ups with a member of the permanent team.

Creating an account on a social media platform

In the process of becoming an ambassador, you will be allocated your country's email address: country_code@openfoodfacts.org (ex: uk@openfoodfacts.org)

  • Accounts can be created on all major social networks
  • All accounts should be created using the Open Food Facts country's email address
  • Accounts names should be worded as follow: Open Food Facts in [country] (ex: Open Food Facts in the United Kingdom)
  • Account Icon: please use the logo of Open Food Facts as is. Please contact us if you want to propose a customised icon.

Moderation/announcement of communications

Tone of voice & content policy

  • The ambassador is free to post any content as long as it is compliant with the Communication Guidelines.
  • The permanent team will regularly post reusable resources (communication kit, images in CC-BY-SA, etc.) in this folder, so that ambassadors can share them easily.
