Caveats

  • The data is disappointing because it contains a lot of false positives, especially in nutrition data.
  • Even when filtering by ingredients, the ingredients_tags field was unavailable in 2021, and there were still many false positives.
  • A significant amount of the data is "noise", with issues like absurd significant figures and changes in ingredient languages.
  • Older versions of the data exports lacked normalized values (the _tags fields).
  • (TODO) Exclude products with a data_quality_error in both databases being compared, as many of these have since been corrected.
  • (TODO) Remove products that have an empty value in either of the two databases being compared.
