Approach by product category
- Let's also focus on the most popular categories (https://world.openproductsfacts.org/categories), so that we show value in those cases.
- Currently the most popular categories are, in order: books/publications, detergents, cigarettes, toilet papers, mobile phones
- We've considered exploring for partnerships: tampons and periodic protections
Books
- Integration with library lookup systems (to borrow the book or get notified when it's available)
Clothes
- How (not) to handle clothes with care labels/tags. Collection of the symbols, and explanations. Obviously, to be useful we'll need to handle finding products without barcodes, and the mobile app should allow a repository of your existing clothes, even if they don't have a barcode.
Approach by existing initiatives
- Some categories have scores that provide value to consumers (eg smartphones, textile…): Open Products Facts scores - let's focus on places where we have things to build upon
