The property "Shrinkflation" has been created in order to track the products that have been "shrinkflated"

For those who don't know, the phenomenon of the shrinkflation is when a manufacturer "shrinks" down the size of a product, keeping the same price (or even increasing it sometimes) in order to increase the price/kg for the product and the profit.

Just add the property "shrinkflation" to a product, pointing out the respective "old" version which wheighted more, like for example

  • this pack of buckwheat spaghetti which wheighted 400g that have been shrinked down to
  • this 340g pack of the same product

Luckily a new product is usually sold as a completely new barcode so it's easy to track them down with Open Food Facts
